Hi! I'm Megan. This is my digital home.
Here I'm writing down thoughts, sharing the work of others, processing life experiences, and trying to balance (a bit more) active creation and (a bit less) passive consumption.
I adore reading blogs, and have since my early twenties. I have learned that if you are consistently inspired by what someone else is doing, it's a great idea to just try it for yourself. But it is very important to (and this is a reminder to myself rather than a lecture to you) remember that you're comparing your own inside view of how messy and slow and complex it can feel, to your outside, inevitably incomplete view of someone else's version of the thing.
I've been writing online, sporadically, since 2014. Starting a travel blog was just what you did when going on a big trip. What kept me going was how writing helped me get to know myself better, remember meaningful experiences, and connect with others. Blogging can also be really fun! These days, here on Afterstan, I try to give myself permission to just write.

Thank you for visiting my internet home :-)
P.S.
The two pictures
Top: A mural along the road in Angola. I find it so beautiful, and did then, in 2018 (2019?) when I cycled past it. I find it so interesting that such energy and detail is rendered with such lack of granular detail. Is it a paint by numbers? Is it a masterpiece by a true expert? I will never know. I love it so much. And now it irritates me, just a little, that this picture's dimensions are different than the next one.
Bottom: Yours truly, a few weeks ago.
