Shrimp
Today I was on a company website for farm-to-fork shrimp. "Prawns," they were referred to as. There were instructions on how to prepare your shrimp for cooking, by choosing to go heads on or heads off. They described how to remove the head. I was assuming that the shrimp were dead by now (it was implied in the instructions but not stated).
I can often judge my animal advocacy and personal beliefs around animals as moving in the direction I want but far slower than I like. But as I was reading this information on the company website it occurred to me that I probably wouldn't be able to remove the heads from the shrimp. Look, it's not say I'm not a hypocrite or that I'm a "pure" vegan--not by any stretch of the imagination. It's just that I had a pretty strong response to reading this information presented matter-of-factly, it upset me quite a bit to think of doing that to a shrimp, even a dead one.
